The Nusa Islands are three tropical islands, located just half an hour away by boat from Bali. They are becoming more and more popular at the moment, partly because they feature some incredibly beautiful places. In a world of Instagram, they are definitely a place to put on your bucket list. With so many beautiful spots it can be hard to choose where to go. This is why I compiled a list of the ten most instagrammable places on the Nusa Islands.

Disclaimer: The Nusa Islands are 100% worth a visit even if you are not into Instagram at all – think beautiful beaches with no one around, awesome cliff-jumping spots, and snorkeling with Manta Rays. However, for the sake of this blog post, I am solely concentrating on the Nusa Islands’ aesthetics. For information on how to explore the two smaller Nusa Islands by foot and how to get to the Nusa Islands check out my blog. (http://tanlinesandtempeh.com/nusa-penida-what-to-do/)

The Nusa Islands consist of the bigger island of Nusa Penida and the two smaller islands Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan, that are connected by a bridge. All three of the islands are worth a visit in my opinion. You can even do the two smaller ones within a day. The list of the ten most instagrammable places on the Nusa Islands isn’t organized by island but by my subjective opinion on their “instagrammability”. However, I will always mention on which island you can find said place. I’ll also include entry fees but please note that these can always change.

  1. Broken Beach

The hole in the cliff that gives Broken Beach its name

Location: Nusa Penida

Entry Fee: IDR 5000 (also includes entrance to Angel’s Billabong)

Broken Beach is exactly what its name promises – a cliff with a hole in it, so a broken beach. You can walk all the way around to enjoy the different views. Broken Beach made it to the top of my list of the ten most instagrammable places on the Nusa Islands because not only is the location stunning and unique, there are also podiums all around for photo lovers (Instagrammers) to climb up on to get the perfect shot.

  1. Angel’s Billabong

Even when you’re not in the water a beautiful location

Location: Nusa Penida

Entry Fee: IDR 5000 (also includes entrance to Broken Beach)

This natural infinity pool located just steps away from Broken Beach seriously stole my heart. I’ve never seen anything comparable to it before which made the experience even more unique. Make sure to come at low tide to see Angel’s Billabong in its full beauty as the water in the pool will be completely still.

Also, this is the only time you’ll be able to go for a swim. There is no guarantee though! Even though the water didn’t even move one tiny little bit during our time there, we weren’t allowed in the water since it was deemed as “too dangerous”. You will still be able to capture some incredible pictures though!

  1. Diamond Beach

Don’t be fooled, the way down is way harder than it looks here

Location: Nusa Penida

Entrance Fee: IDR 10000 (includes entrance to Atuh Beach)

Diamond Beach is not quite as popular as Broken Beach and Angel’s Billabong since it is located on Nusa Penida’s East Coast and most tours stick to the West Coast. It is in no way less pretty though. Looking at the picture, it should be pretty obvious to you why this stunning place is called Diamond Beach.

Fun Fact: This was actually my favorite spot on Nusa Penida. Not only can you take some breathtaking pictures, but this place also features a beautiful beach I could have spent hours on. The way down is quite the adventure though!

  1. Rumah Pohon

Not a bad view eh?

Location: Nusa Penida

Entry Fee: IDR 10000

Another case of what it’s called is what you get! Rumah Pohon means tree house and this is exactly what the next place on my list of the ten most instagrammable places on the Nusa Islands is. Except that it is not only one but three tree houses in some of which you can even stay for the night. Located just a short drive away from Diamond Beach they offer you a different view on the beautiful beach.

How cool would it be to stay in one of these?

Rumah Pohon is one of the places made famous by Instagram. Totally understandable if you look at the pictures.

  1. Kelingking Beach

It’s a must to take a picture here!

Location: Nusa Penida

Entry Fee: Free but IDR 5000-10000 for parking

I know you’ve been waiting for this. You can’t make a list on the ten most instagrammable places on the Nusa Islands and not mention Kelingking Beach. This is probably THE most instagrammed place of all three islands. However, I just think that some of the other places are even more beautiful which is why Kelingking Beach only made spot five of my list.

Kelingking means “Pinke-finger” as people thought it kinda looked like a hand with an extended pinkie. In recent years, it has become more famous for looking like a T-Rex though. Pinkie or T-Rex? You decide! It is a beautiful photo location either way.

  1. Blue Lagoon

Check out Blue Lagoon to be blown away by its color!

Location: Nusa Ceningan

Entry Fee: Free

The first place not located on Nusa Penida is the Blue Lagoon on Nusa Ceningan. Let me tell you, the water is even more breathtakingly blue than it looks in the pictures! What surprised me more about this one of my ten most instagrammable places on the Nusa Islands is that it wasn’t even that crowded! We were there alone first and then with just five other tourists in the middle of the day which should give you enough time to take the perfect shot.

  1. Devil’s Tear

Not Devil’s Tear but also beautiful

Location: Nusa Lembongan

Entry Fee: Free

Attention! The place pictured is NOT the Devil’s Tear. Devil’s Tear is known for its waves crashing on the shore with enormous power – the tears. From what I’ve seen, it is an incredibly beautiful place to take your Instagram pictures. However, it is also a veeery popular place which is why you should probably go there for sunset or even better early in the morning. Below, you can see what Devil’s Tear looked like for us – not really a great photo location.

No way to take a great picture with all these people in the way.

However, not even 200 meters away, there are some beautiful rock formations with barely anyone around which is where the first picture was taken.

  1. Dream Beach

Overlooking the beach from the swing is a lot of fun as well

Location: Nusa Lembongan

Entry Fee: Free

A short walk away from Devil’s Tear is the beautiful Dream Beach. Apart from being an awesome spot to spend your day on the beach at you’ll also find a swing that makes the perfect location for a little photo shoot.

  1. Swings on the Beach next to Jalan Nusa Ceningan

Have you even been to the Nusas if you didn’t take a picture like this?

Location: Nusa Ceningan

Entry Fee: Free

Taking a picture on a swing is almost mandatory when in Bali/on the Nusa Islands. The perfect location for that is on the beach located on right from the Yellow Bridge when going over to Nusa Ceningan. Multiple warungs and restaurants, like Sea Breeze or The Sand, have their swings put up on this beach. There definitely are enough options so you should be able to get your perfect Instagram picture.

  1. Crystal Bay

A little yoga on the beach never hurt nobody!

Location: Nusa Penida

Entry Fee: IDR 2000

This last location of my list on the ten most instagrammable places on the Nusa Islands is probably the least spectacular. However, Crystal Bay is a beautiful spot to enjoy the sunset at and snap some nice pictures for the ‘gram.

That’s it for my ten most instagrammable places on the Nusa Islands. I can’t wait for you to check them out and would love for you to tag me in your photos if you end up going to any of the places I’ve mentioned!

Remember to always #lostworldwide when you visit places any of our contributors have mentioned and suggested. if you want more of Katja’s pieces on the Nusa Islands and Bali you can check out her blog here.
